Game Overview

Apache is one of those classic Amiga games that makes you appreciate how much they squeezed out of that hardware. You're piloting a helicopter through tight canyons, dodging enemy fire while trying to take out ground targets—and the controls actually feel surprisingly good for how old it is. The first time I played, I crashed immediately because I underestimated how much momentum the chopper had, but once you get the hang of it, weaving between trees and buildings becomes this weirdly satisfying dance.

The graphics are pixel-heavy by today’s standards, but there’s something charming about the way explosions send little debris flying everywhere. And the soundtrack? Pure late-80s synth energy—you’ll either love it or find it hilariously dated. It’s the kind of game where you’ll fail a bunch at first, then suddenly realize you’ve been playing for an hour without noticing.

If you’re into retro flight sims or just want to see what the Amiga could do, this one’s still a blast.
