Arcus Odyssey is one of those weird little action-RPG hybrids from the early '90s that somehow got a Genesis port after starting life on the X68000. You pick from four characters—I always went with the wizard because fireballs, obviously—and hack through dungeons that feel like a mix of Gauntlet and a lighter version of Dungeon Master.
The graphics are surprisingly crisp for a Genesis game, with these moody purple caverns and sprites that actually have some personality. Combat's simple but satisfying, though I remember the difficulty spiking hard around the third dungeon when enemies start ganging up on you. Still, there's something charming about how it mashes together arcade action with just enough RPG elements to keep you tinkering with gear.
