Arcus Odyssey came out for the Sega Genesis in 1991, developed by Wolf Team. It was part of that wave of early 90s action RPGs that tried to blend fast combat with exploration, sitting somewhere between the methodical pace of older dungeon crawlers and the more immediate arcade style games that were becoming popular.
You choose one of four characters, like a knight with a sword or an elf with a bow, and fight through screen after screen of monsters and traps to stop an evil sorcerer. The game moves quickly; enemies swarm you constantly, and you're always managing your health and magic. A key feature is the two player co-op, which turns the screen into a chaotic mess of spells and arrows as you and a friend try to survive together. It feels frantic and demanding, but pulling off a tough section with a partner is incredibly satisfying.
