Play Arcus Odyssey (prototype) Online
Pick an elf, grab a friend, and slash through gothic dungeons—spells flying, monsters dropping, that SNES co-op magic doing its thing. The prototype tweaks are neat, but the real draw’s that eerie, chaotic teamwork vibe.

Arcus Odyssey (Prototype) is one of those SNES games that makes you wonder how it didn’t blow up back in the day. It’s got this weird, moody fantasy thing going on—like if someone took Gauntlet, cranked up the gothic vibes, and threw in some surprisingly fluid combat. You pick from four characters (I always go for the elf because, well, magic), and then it’s just you and a friend hacking through waves of monsters in these eerie, shadow-drenched dungeons.
The prototype version’s got little quirks that make it feel like a lost alternate take—slightly different enemy placements, a tweak here and there. Not game-changing, but cool if you’ve played the original to death. The co-op’s where it really shines, though. There’s something stupidly satisfying about spamming spells while your buddy’s getting swarmed by skeletons. It’s rough around the edges, but that’s part of the charm.
If you dig dungeon crawlers that don’t take themselves too seriously, this one’s worth dusting off.
