You control an on-screen athlete by running, jumping, and stomping on the Power Pad peripheral, a large floor mat with pressure-sensitive buttons. The main objective is to complete a series of track and field style events, like sprinting and hurdling, by matching your physical movements to the on-screen actions. The game relies on timing your steps to build speed and coordinating jumps to clear obstacles; mistiming a hurdle sends your character tumbling in a clumsy animation.
