B.O.B. is one of those weird, janky Genesis games that somehow works despite itself. You play as this lanky robot kid who trashes his dad's hovercar (classic teen move) and now has to blast through alien-infested factories and caves with nothing but his arm cannon. The controls take a minute to get used to—your jumps feel floaty at first, but once you figure out the rhythm, bouncing between platforms while dodging mutant bugs becomes weirdly satisfying.
What I love is how chaotic it gets. One minute you're carefully picking off enemies, the next you're frantically mashing buttons as a swarm of... whatever those things are... comes pouring out of the walls. The weapons are ridiculous too—homing missiles, bouncing lasers, even a disco ball gun that just sprays shots everywhere. Half the fun is seeing what weird tool you'll stumble into next.
It's not perfect (some of those platforming sections are brutal), but there's something charming about its messy, over-the-top energy. If you like '90s action platformers with a weird sense of humor, this one's worth a shot.
