The power-ups change how you play in small but meaningful ways - a wider shot helps clear crowds, while a focused laser makes boss fights less chaotic. Sometimes you'll backtrack through earlier sections with new abilities, which is neat when you realize a path was blocked before.
It's got that classic GBA look - bright colors, chunky sprites - but the enemy designs stand out. Some levels throw these mechanical bosses at you that fill half the screen, and beating them without getting crushed is half the fun.
