Navigate tight moon bases, hunt for keycards, and clear out robotic enemies while managing limited ammo and health in BackTrack on Game Boy Advance.
BackTrack came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2001, published by Telegames. It was part of that early wave of GBA titles that tried to bring a certain kind of PC-style action into a portable format. The game doesn't get mentioned much these days, but it had a specific, almost claustrophobic appeal if you were into methodical, screen-by-screen exploration.
You control a lone soldier navigating a series of tight, maze-like moon bases overrun by robotic enemies. Your goal is to hunt down keycards to progress deeper into each level, all while managing limited ammunition and health. Combat is straightforward; you aim and shoot with the face buttons, clearing rooms of patrolling bots. The pacing is deliberate, almost cautious, because enemies hit hard and resources are scarce. It feels tense and isolating, like a condensed, stripped-down take on older first-person shooters built for small screens and short sessions.
