Game Overview

Beast Busters: Disk1 came out on the Amiga in 1989, a port of the SNK arcade game published by Activision. It was a time when light gun games were mostly an arcade experience, so having one on home computers felt like a novelty, even if you had to use a mouse or joystick to aim.

You control one of two characters, Johnny or Sammy, moving them through a fixed path as you shoot waves of zombies and monsters. Your main objective is to survive each stage and defeat the boss waiting at the end. You use a machine gun for constant fire and grenades for clearing out groups; enemies attack from all sides, including from behind, so you have to keep spinning your view. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is unforgiving, with limited continues. It feels like a constant, frantic scramble to keep your crosshairs on target before you're overrun.
