Play Beetle Juice Online
Control Beetlejuice, jump on enemies, sneak past the Deetz family, squash bugs, and create chaos to earn cash for new scare tactics in this quirky NES platformer from 1991.
Beetlejuice on the NES came out in 1991 from Hi Tech Expressions, a time when movie tie-ins were a regular, often unpredictable, part of the console's library. It was one of those games you'd find tucked away on a rental store shelf, its box art promising a chaotic adventure based on Tim Burton's strange and funny world.
You control Beetlejuice himself, moving from room to room in the Deetz household. The main goal is to earn enough money by squashing bugs and causing mischief to buy new scare tactics from a catalog, which you then use to frighten the family. The gameplay shifts between standard side-scrolling platforming, where you jump on enemies and avoid obstacles, and overhead-view stealth sections where you must sneak past the Deetz family undetected. The platforming can feel a bit loose and unpredictable, while the sneaking parts rely heavily on memorization and patience. It creates a disjointed but oddly fitting sense of cartoonish anarchy just to get through the day.
