Pick a cyborg freak and fight in floating arenas where you can fly—just try not to launch yourself off the edge mid-combo. Chainsaw limbs and ridiculous air juggles make this one messy, chaotic brawler.

Bio F.R.E.A.K.S. came out on the Nintendo 64 in 1998, a time when the console was packed with fighting games trying to stand out. It was developed by Midway Games, the same company behind Mortal Kombat, but this one went for a much more over-the-top, sci-fi vibe. It felt like a product of that era, where developers were experimenting with 3D spaces and pushing hardware to its limits.
You control a heavily modified fighter, a "Bio-FREAK," in one-on-one battles set on small, floating platforms. The main objective is to deplete your opponent's health or knock them off the stage entirely. Two signature mechanics define the combat: every character can double-jump and hover, allowing for extended aerial combos, and you can target and shoot off individual enemy limbs with projectile weapons. The pacing is incredibly fast and the difficulty can be unforgiving, especially with the constant threat of falling into the abyss. It feels like a frantic, chaotic scramble where every match is a messy and unpredictable brawl.
