Boktai 2 throws you right back into Django’s world, but this time he’s lost his fancy solar gun—so now you’re stuck with swords, whips, and whatever else you can scavenge. The vampires and undead are still everywhere, lurking in the shadows, and that little sunlight sensor on the cartridge? Yeah, it’s still a thing. You’ll catch yourself angling your GBA toward windows just to charge up your attacks.
The stealth feels smoother than the first game, and there’s way more room to tweak Django’s gear and abilities. Boss fights are brutal if you don’t time your solar-powered strikes right, but sneaking around and setting traps makes it satisfying when you finally take them down. Oh, and if you’ve got friends with copies, you can trade items or even battle them—just don’t expect anyone to play fair when sunlight’s involved.
It’s one of those sequels that actually builds on everything that worked in the first game without losing what made it weird and fun.
