Nina joins early on as your obligatory-but-actually-useful mage companion, and the way their friendship develops feels surprisingly natural for a pixelated GBA adventure. The dragon transformations? Absolute game-changers when you finally unlock them mid-battle. Just don't expect everything to make sense—this is the kind of game where you'll be carrying around a talking shovel at some point.

It's got that perfect balance of 90s JRPG charm and occasional frustration (why do all the best spells cost so much MP?). If you can handle the random encounters, there's a solid 30-hour adventure here with some genuinely clever dungeon designs.
