Breath of Fire: Ryuu no Senshi came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2001, developed and published by Capcom. You control Ryu, a young man with the power to transform into dragons, and your main goal is to stop an ancient evil from returning. The gameplay is classic turn-based combat mixed with exploration across an overworld and through numerous dungeons. A key mechanic is the dragon transformation system, letting you shift into different elemental forms during battle to exploit enemy weaknesses. You also recruit a party of characters, each with unique skills used to solve environmental puzzles on the world map. The pacing is deliberate, and some dungeons can feel like a real test of your resource management. It feels like a thoughtful, condensed version of a much larger adventure.
