Bust-A-Move 2 came out for the Game Boy in 1996, developed and published by Taito. It was a solid puzzle game for a handheld that was mostly known for platformers and RPGs at the time. You didn't see many color-matching games that were this straightforward and portable.
You control a small dinosaur at the bottom of the screen who aims and fires colored bubbles upward. The main goal is to clear the entire screen of bubbles by matching three or more of the same color. Key mechanics include the ability to bank shots off the side walls and the tension of the ceiling slowly descending each time you fire. The game starts gently but the pace quickens as the stages get more complex, demanding faster decisions and precise angles. It feels satisfying to set off a big chain reaction and watch a crowded screen suddenly clear.
