Play Captain Planet and the Planeteers (Europe) on sega Online

Captain Planet and the Planeteers on the Sega Genesis is one of those games that feels exactly like the cartoon—for better or worse. You pick one of the five Planeteers, each with their own elemental attack (Wheeler’s fire blasts are weirdly satisfying), and brawl through levels full of goons dumping sludge and chopping down trees. The controls are a little stiff, but summoning Captain Planet for a screen-clearing super move never gets old.

It’s got that classic ‘90s beat-’em-up jank—enemies love to gang up on you, and some of the platforming bits are awkward—but the bright colors and corny voice clips ("By your powers combined!") make it hard to stay mad. Also, Dr. Blight’s boss fight is way harder than it should be, but that might just be me being bad at retro games. If you grew up with the show, you’ll grin at the little details, like the way Ma-Ti’s heart power… mostly just stuns enemies for some reason.

Not gonna lie, it’s a niche pick, but there’s something weirdly charming about drop-kicking a guy in a business suit while an 8-bit version of the theme song plays in the background.
