Captain Planet and the Planeteers for the NES is one of those licensed games that feels exactly like the early '90s cartoon—for better or worse. You play as the Planeteers, each with their own elemental powers, running through side-scrolling levels to stop polluters and eventually summon Captain Planet himself. The controls are a little stiff, and some of the platforming can be frustrating, but if you grew up with the show, there's some nostalgia in hearing "Go Planet!" after beating a boss. Just don't expect it to hold up like the classics.
