Play Chase H.Q. Online

You get a blurry photo of a suspect's car, then floor it through traffic to ram them off the road—just don't wreck your own ride in the process. That turbo boost is tempting, but one wrong move sends you spinning into a guardrail.

Game Overview

I first played Chase H.Q. on the Game Boy in 1990, a portable version of Taito's arcade racer. It was a time when getting a decent driving game on the handheld felt like a small miracle, and this one captured the high speed pursuit idea pretty well for the hardware. The screen was small, the graphics were simple, but it had a clear purpose: catch the bad guys.

You control a police sports car, weaving through traffic to close in on a target vehicle shown at the start of each stage. Your main objective is to ram the suspect's car until its damage meter fills, forcing it to stop. Key mechanics include using a limited turbo boost for sudden bursts of speed and managing your own car's health; hitting obstacles or other cars too hard will end your pursuit early. The pacing is relentless, and the traffic patterns demand quick reflexes. It feels tense and immediate, like you're barely in control during every high speed shunt.
