Chase H.Q.: Secret Police came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by Taito. It was part of that late handheld era where developers tried to squeeze more complex ideas into the small screen, often with mixed results. This one took the car chase concept from the arcade and gave it a strategic twist.
You control an undercover agent tasked with stopping criminals before they escape the city. First, you position your agents around the map, trying to predict the suspect's route. Once the chase begins, you switch to a driving view and try to ram their car off the road. If you placed your agents poorly or fail to intercept in time, the target gets away. The game moves quickly, and the planning phase adds a layer of tension missing from pure action racers. It feels like a tense game of cat and mouse, where one wrong move means starting over.
