Cheetahmen 2 came out in 1991 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, developed by Active Enterprises. It was part of that late NES era when smaller companies tried to push the hardware, sometimes with messy results. The game was meant to be a sequel to a title that never really got off the ground, and it shows in the final product.
You control one of three Cheetahmen, each with slightly different abilities, as you move through side-scrolling levels fighting mutant enemies. The main goal is to defeat Dr. Morbis, but getting there involves platforming, combat, and collecting power-ups. The game is known for its screen-by-screen progression and occasional branching paths, though it's plagued by glitches and unfair difficulty spikes. Playing it feels like wrestling with an unfinished prototype that never got the polish it needed.
