Game Overview

Chiller (HES) is an NES first-person shooter where you fight through a haunted castle overrun by the undead. The controls are stiff, like most early light gun games, but there's something oddly satisfying about blasting skeletons and zombies pixel by pixel.

You start outside the castle gates, and the first thing you notice is how empty it feels—just you, a crosshair, and the occasional shambling horror. The timer adds tension, but the real challenge is finding those hidden talismans. Miss one, and you'll be backtracking later when the monsters respawn.

It's rough around the edges, and the hit detection can be frustrating, but there's a weird charm to its barebones horror aesthetic. The fact that it supports two players is a nice touch, even if the screen gets chaotic fast.
