Play Chip and Dale Online
Toss apples at robot bugs as tiny chipmunk detectives, bounce through toy stores, and accidentally yeet your co-op partner into enemies. That map screen still feels genius.
Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed and published by Capcom. It was part of that wave of licensed games that sometimes surprised you by being genuinely well made, a solid platformer that stood out from the many simpler movie and cartoon tie-ins of the era.
You control either Chip or Dale, working alone or with a friend in co-op, to rescue a kidnapped kitten from a villainous cat. The game progresses screen by screen through levels like a toy store and a construction site, where you pick up and throw apples, boxes, and other objects to defeat robot bugs and other enemies. A signature mechanic lets you jump on your partner's shoulders to reach higher platforms, which is as much a recipe for friendly fire as it is for teamwork. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty is fair but requires some precision, especially in later stages. It feels like a clever, physical puzzle where every throw and bounce has a satisfying weight to it.
