Game Overview
Chuck Rock II is one of those weirdly charming Genesis platformers where you play as Chuck’s kid—basically a tiny caveman with a big club—smacking dinosaurs and jumping over lava pits. The controls are a little stiff by today’s standards, but there’s something satisfying about bonking raptors on the head while dodging pterodactyls. The levels get pretty creative, too—one minute you’re swinging across vines, the next you’re riding a skateboard made of stone (because why not?). It’s not the deepest game, but the cartoony style and goofy enemies make it a fun throwback.
Just don’t expect a masterpiece—some of the hitboxes are janky, and the difficulty spikes hard in later levels. Still, if you’re into old-school platformers with personality, it’s worth a look.
