Ever wished you could build your own NES platformer hero from scratch? That's Cocoron in a nutshell โ this weird little Famicom gem lets you Frankenstein together characters from different heads, bodies, and weapons. My first attempt was this lanky dude with a drill for an arm who jumped like a brick, but then I figured out how to mix ninja bodies with floating heads for better mobility. The levels are these bite-sized challenges you can tackle in any order, each split into an entrance gauntlet, a boss fight (some of these are brutal), and an escape sequence. Half the fun is seeing how your janky custom build handles different stages โ that flamethrower octopus I made? Useless in water levels, obviously.
