Crazy Climber came out on the NES in 1986, published by Nichibutsu. It was a port of an older arcade game, and on the NES it felt like a pure, unfiltered challenge from that era, a game built around one simple, punishing idea rather than a grand adventure.
You control a climber scaling the side of a building, moving your character's left and right hands independently to grip the windowsills. Your goal is to just get to the top, but the building itself is trying to kill you. People lean out of windows to shove you off, flowerpots get dropped on your head, and you have to dodge or time your movements around them. The pace is relentless, and a single mistake sends you plummeting all the way down. It feels like a desperate, sweaty-palmed scramble against an unfair world.
