Play Dark Rift (E) Online
Choose a fighter and battle it out in 3D arenas, using basic moves and flashy super attacks to take down your opponent in this chaotic fighting game.
Dark Rift came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1997, developed and published by Vic Tokai. It was one of the early attempts at a 3D fighting game on the system, arriving not long after the console's launch, when developers were still figuring out how to make polygonal characters move and fight smoothly.
You pick from a roster of fighters, including cyborgs, demons, and wizards, and battle through one-on-one matches across various stages. The main goal is to defeat your opponent by depleting their health bar, using a mix of basic attacks and special moves. Signature mechanics include pulling off screen-filling super attacks and navigating the 3D arenas to avoid projectiles or set up combos. The pacing is fast, sometimes messy, and the difficulty can spike sharply against certain opponents. It feels like a rough but energetic experiment, where every match is a loud, colorful scramble.
