Game Overview

Dead to Rights for the Game Boy Advance came out in 2004, published by Namco. It was part of that wave of gritty, cinematic action games that tried to translate console experiences onto the small screen. The hardware had its limits, but developers kept pushing what was possible, and this game was one of those attempts.

You control Jack Slate, an undercover cop fighting through a corrupt city. The main goal is to shoot your way through waves of enemies, room by room, to uncover a conspiracy. Two mechanics stand out: you can dive into slow motion to aim more carefully, and you can also perform disarms to take an enemy's weapon. The pacing is aggressive, and the difficulty can spike without much warning. It feels like a stripped down, sometimes clumsy, but oddly satisfying arcade shooter that fits in your pocket.
