Game Overview
Death Knights of Krynn picks up right where Champions left off—if you survived that one, you can bring your battered party straight into this undead nightmare. The mood’s darker this time: old allies turn up as shambling horrors, and the maps feel heavier with rot. That Knight class they added? Turns out it’s not just flavor—you’ll need one in your party to stand a chance when skeletal warriors swarm you in foggy graveyards.
Combat’s still grid-based and brutal, but now your Knights get to pledge themselves to one of three clans later on (I went with the sword-and-board types—no regrets). The new spells help, too, especially when you’re cornered by wraiths in some crumbling temple. Just don’t get too comfortable between fights—even the overworld map hides ambushes by things that really shouldn’t be walking anymore.
It’s very much a sequel—if you hated the first game’s dice-roll combat, this won’t change your mind. But for anyone who finished Champions hungry for more Dragonlance lore and tougher fights, this delivers exactly that gnarly, undead-infested road trip.
