Death Knights of Krynn came out in 1991 from Strategic Simulations, Inc. for MS-DOS. It was part of that era of computer gaming where you spent a lot of time reading text descriptions and managing character sheets, a style that feels very deliberate and thoughtful compared to modern action games.
You control a party of up to six adventurers, leading them through screen by screen exploration of towns, wilderness, and deep dungeons. Your main goal is to stop the death knight Lord Soth and his forces from overrunning the land, which involves a lot of tactical, turn based combat against skeletons, draconians, and other monsters. You spend a good amount of time managing equipment, spells, and healing between fights, and the game doesn't pull its punches with difficulty. It feels like a serious, methodical challenge where every decision matters.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
