Play Diddy Kong Pilot (2001 prototype) Online
Diddy Kong Pilot throws you into rickety planes instead of karts—dodging palm trees, dropping bananas mid-air, and laughing as your friends crash into windmills. It's rough but full of that classic Rare charm.

Ever played Diddy Kong Racing and thought, "Man, this would be even cooler in the air?" That’s basically what Diddy Kong Pilot is—a weird, wonderful prototype from 2001 where Rare took the gang out of karts and tossed them into rickety little planes instead. It’s rough around the edges (it was scrapped and retooled into Banjo-Pilot later), but there’s something charming about dodging palm trees and dropping bananas mid-flight while Tiny Kong zooms past you.
The controls feel surprisingly tight for a GBA game, and the courses are packed with shortcuts and hazards that make races chaotic in the best way. Multiplayer’s where it really shines, though—nothing like watching your friend clip a windmill and spiral into last place. If you’ve got nostalgia for Rare’s goofy, colorful era, this is a neat little time capsule. Just don’t expect polish—it’s more like digging up a beta version of something that could’ve been amazing.
