Do! Run Run came out in 1984 as an arcade game from Universal Co., Ltd. It was part of that era where a lot of games were trying to stand out with quirky ideas, and this one definitely had its own flavor. You don't see many games like it, even from that time.
You control a little clown who runs around single-screen stages, digging paths through soft ground to collect bouncing balls. The main goal is to turn those balls into fruit by touching them after you've collected enough, and then you need to grab the fruit before time runs out. Two big mechanics are dropping logs on enemies to stun them and hunting for letters that spell "SPECIAL" to earn bonus points. The pacing is pretty frantic; enemies come quickly and the stages get tough fast. It feels like a race against the clock where every move has to count.
