Eliminator Boat Duel is one of those NES games that somehow makes crashing into buoys and flipping your boat halfway through a race weirdly fun. You pick your speedboat—some handle better, others just go fast in a straight line until you inevitably wipe out—and then it's all about threading between oil barrels and ramming opponents when the referee isn't looking. The water physics are hilariously bouncy, like your boat weighs as much as a soda can.
Split-screen multiplayer turns it into pure chaos. My friend and I spent way too many afternoons shoving each other into rocks or stealing each other's nitro pickups. The graphics are definitely old-school, but there's something satisfying about the way your boat leaves a chunky white wake behind it. It's the kind of game where you'll finish a race sideways, missing half your hull, and still somehow end up in second place.
