Enforce came out in 1992 as an arcade game from Taito. It was part of that wave of shooters where developers were pushing hardware to handle more sprites and faster action, but it didn't get the same attention as some of the bigger names from that year. You just plugged in your quarters and hoped it would last a while.

You pilot a small, nimble ship through vertically scrolling stages filled with enemy craft and environmental hazards. The main goal is survival; you shoot everything that moves while dodging a relentless barrage of patterned bullets. Two mechanics define the experience: collecting power-ups to switch between different weapon types, like a focused laser or wide spread shot, and using a smart bomb that clears the screen when you're completely cornered. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is unforgiving, typical for an arcade designed to eat tokens. It feels like a constant, tense calculation of risk and movement, where one mistimed dodge ends your run.
