Play ESPN National Hockey Night on sega Online
Pick your NHL team, then switch between overhead plays and side-scrolling action while Bill Clement shouts commentary—it’s janky, but the season mode actually saves.

Game Overview
ESPN National Hockey Night on the Sega Genesis was one of those mid-90s hockey games that tried to stand out with a little extra flair. You got all the NHL teams (minus real player names, thanks to licensing issues), and Bill Clement’s voice barking out play-by-play calls—which, honestly, was kind of a big deal back then.
The coolest thing? You could switch between a classic top-down view and a side-scrolling perspective mid-game, like some weird hybrid of NHL '94 and a beat-em-up. Battery save meant you could actually finish a full season without leaving your Genesis on for weeks, and the Challenge mode threw random scenarios at you—down by two with five minutes left, that kind of thing. Not the deepest hockey sim, but it had personality.
Still, you could tell it was playing second fiddle to EA’s NHL series. The skating felt a little stiff, and good luck telling those generic players apart. But if you were desperate for hockey and already burned through NHL '94, it scratched the itch.
