Play ESPN : National Hockey Night Online
Skate, pass, and shoot your way to victory in ESPN: National Hockey Night on Game Boy Color, playing through matches or a full season to outscore your opponents.

Konami released ESPN National Hockey Night for the Game Boy Color in 2001, a time when handheld sports games were often stripped down versions of their console counterparts. This one tried to fit a full hockey experience onto the small screen, complete with team licenses and a season mode. It was part of that wave of late-era GBC titles that pushed the hardware before the Advance took over.
You control all five skaters and the goalie, cycling through players to chase the puck, set up plays, and take shots. The main objective is to outscore the opponent across three periods, either in a single match or over a full season. Signature mechanics include using a turbo button for short bursts of speed, executing slap shots and one-timers with timed button presses, and managing line changes to keep players fresh. The pacing is quick, almost frantic, and the difficulty can spike sharply against better teams. It feels like a genuine, if compact, game of hockey that fits in your pocket.
