Game Overview

F-22 Interceptor on the Genesis is one of those games that makes you feel like a fighter pilot without needing a manual the size of a phone book. The second you take off, the screen tilts and banks with you—it’s all very "Top Gun," but with pixelated clouds and a soundtrack that sounds like your Genesis is about to lift off. Enemy jets zip into view, missiles scream toward you, and suddenly you’re doing barrel rolls like you actually know what you’re doing.

What’s cool is how it balances arcade action with just enough realism to make you feel like you’re in control of something expensive. The radar’s a lifesaver when three bogies appear out of nowhere, and landing? Way harder than it should be. I may have cratered into the runway more times than I’d like to admit. If you’ve got a soft spot for 90s flight games that don’t overcomplicate things, this one’s a solid time capsule.
