Game Overview

F-22 Interceptor came out on the Sega Genesis in 1991, developed by Garry Kitchen and published by Electronic Arts. It was one of the earlier flight sims on the system, a time when polygonal graphics were still a novelty and developers were figuring out how to make 3D action feel convincing on 16-bit hardware.

You pilot an F-22 Raptor, tasked with neutralizing enemy forces across a series of missions. The game uses a first-person cockpit view, and your main objectives involve intercepting enemy aircraft, destroying ground targets like tanks and SAM sites, and protecting friendly units. Two key mechanics are the radar screen for tracking bogies and the need to manage your limited supply of missiles and countermeasures carefully. Missions are short but demanding, requiring quick target acquisition and efficient weapon use to avoid being overwhelmed. It feels like a constant, high-pressure balancing act between aggression and survival.
