Play F1 Pole Position (USA, Europe) Online
Tiny cars, pixel tracks, but you'll white-knuckle the straights—brake too late on Monaco and eat the barrier. That tinny engine beep somehow makes you lean into turns.

F1 Pole Position came out for the Game Boy in 1992, developed by Human Entertainment. It was one of the few attempts to bring Formula 1 racing to the handheld during that era, sitting alongside a lot of simpler action and puzzle games. The small screen and limited hardware meant you had to adjust your expectations, but it still offered a focused racing experience.
You control a single Formula 1 car from a top-down perspective, racing against computer opponents on a selection of real-world tracks. The main objective is to qualify for pole position and then win the Grand Prix. Key mechanics include managing your fuel consumption to avoid running out before the finish, and timing your pit stops for tires and fuel without losing too much time. The game moves at a steady pace, though the narrow tracks and tight corners demand precise control. It feels tense and demanding, especially when trying to defend a lead in the final laps.
