Famicom Wars is where it all started—Intelligent Systems' first crack at turn-based strategy on the NES, and the granddaddy of the whole Wars series (you might know it better as Advance Wars later on). It’s simple compared to the sequels—just tanks, infantry, and factories on a grid—but there’s something weirdly satisfying about slowly pushing your little pixel armies across the map. The AI’s sneaky, too—it’ll flank you if you’re not careful. Definitely feels like a prototype, but you can see the bones of what made the later games so addictive.
