Game Overview

Famicom Wars DS is one of those games that looks simple at first—just little pixelated tanks and soldiers moving around a grid—but man, it gets intense fast. You start off picking a commander (I went with Eagle because jets sounded cool, but honestly, his air units are way harder to manage than I expected).

The first few turns feel like a chess match—scouting with infantry, capturing cities for cash, trying not to overextend. Then suddenly, your opponent drops a surprise battleship in the fog of war, and you’re scrambling to reposition. The AI actually puts up a decent fight, and the terrain matters way more than you’d think—mountains slow you down, forests hide units, and bridges become choke points.

It’s got that classic Nintendo charm with just enough depth to keep you hooked. If you’ve ever lost hours to Advance Wars, this is the DS version you probably missed.
