Game Overview

I first played Fetiche Maya, Le on the Amiga back in 1989. It was developed by Lankhor and published by Microïds, a time when action-adventures were really finding their footing on home computers. The game drops you into a dense, mysterious jungle setting, and it felt right at home among other exploratory platformers of that era.

You control an explorer navigating through ancient Mayan ruins, screen by screen. Your main goal is to recover a sacred artifact, which involves a lot of careful jumping across platforms, avoiding traps like falling spikes and rolling boulders, and deciphering simple hieroglyph puzzles to open new paths. Combat is straightforward, usually just swinging a machete at bats or other creatures that get in your way. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical; you have to observe each room before moving. It feels tense and absorbing, like you're slowly uncovering secrets in a forgotten place.
