Flappy came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1983, developed by dB-SOFT and published by NetFarm Communications. It was one of those early puzzle platformers that felt experimental, a product of its time when developers were still figuring out what worked on the console. You don't hear much about it now, but it had a quiet presence among the first wave of NES titles.
You control a small, blocky character who must push blue stones across single-screen stages toward a goal marker. Each stage is a self-contained puzzle filled with traps, walls, and sometimes enemies that reset your progress if you touch them. The main challenge comes from figuring out the correct sequence of pushes; once a stone is against a wall or another obstacle, it's stuck for good. The game moves at a deliberate, thoughtful pace, and mistakes force you to restart the stage. It feels like patiently untangling a knot, one careful move at a time.
