Game Overview
Football Frenzy is one of those arcade football games that somehow nails the chaos of the sport without getting bogged down in realism. You pick from ten goofy teams (I always went with the neon-green "Blitzers") and dive into either a single-player tournament or a head-to-head match. The top-down view gives you the whole field, but when you snap the ball, the camera zooms in tight—especially on running plays, where you're frantically mashing the A button to outrun defenders.
Play-calling's simple but strategic: eight running plays, eight passing plays, plus kicks. Defense is more reactive—you can't pick plays, just scramble to switch players and hope you guessed right. The two-player mode gets hilariously tense when you're down to the wire and your buddy keeps intercepting your passes. Controls are straightforward arcade stuff: joystick to move, buttons to pass or sprint. Just don't blame the game when you accidentally throw to the wrong receiver because you panicked.
It's not Madden, and that's the point. You'll finish a full tournament in one sitting, but the dumb fun of it sticks with you.
