Frontier: Elite II is one of those games where you just get dumped into space with a rickety ship and a handful of credits, and suddenly you're sweating over fuel costs while pirates lurk in the asteroid belt. The scale is ridiculous—billions of planets, most of them empty, but that’s the point. You could be a trader hauling grain between backwater moons, a bounty hunter chasing down smugglers, or just some idiot who accidentally shot a police ship and now has to outrun the entire navy.

The flight model’s unforgiving—no fancy arcade handling here. You’ll botch landings, overshoot stations, and probably crash into a sun at least once. But when you finally nail that perfect smuggling run or take down a pirate lord after a drawn-out dogfight, it feels earned. The Amiga version’s a bit rough around the edges, but it’s still the kind of game where you lose hours plotting routes and debating whether to upgrade your lasers or save for a bigger cargo hold.

Also, the manual’s thicker than some textbooks. You’ll need it.
