Gangster Bros is this weird, hilarious mashup of Duck Hunt and Mario where that smug laughing dog finally gets what’s coming to him, he blew up your house and kidnapped the Princess, so now it’s payback time. You grab a shotgun (pick from three, though the double-barrel feels the most satisfying) and storm through levels that look like classic platformers, except you can’t just stomp on enemies. Nope, you blast them into pixelated chunks instead.
The first level’s at the lake, and it starts easy enough, but don’t get comfortable. Some of the jumps are brutal, and enemies pop up in the worst spots. I died like five times before realizing you can actually shoot diagonally, game changer. The Princess better appreciate all this work.
It’s janky in that old Flash game way, but that’s part of the charm. Just watch out for the weird physics when you’re mid-air.
