Game Overview
Oh man, Street Fighter II—this is the one that ruined my thumbs back in the arcade days. You pick Ryu or Ken thinking "how hard can fireballs be?" and next thing you know, you're getting wrecked by some dude spamming Dhalsim's stretchy limbs from across the screen. The controls feel tight even now, and landing that first accidental Shoryuken still gives you that "hell yeah" moment.
The characters are all weirdos in the best way—who decided a green electric monster and a yoga master belonged in the same fighting game? But it works. Chun-Li's theme still slaps, and nothing beats the panic when you hear "PERFECT" after getting flawlessed by a CPU Guile. It's simple enough to button mash with friends but deep enough that you'll still discover new tricks years later. This is the game that made us all yell "rematch!" until our quarters ran out.
