Gardening 101 is one of those weird little Flash games that sticks with you—it looks simple at first, but there's something hypnotic about arranging plants just right. You start with a blank grid and a handful of flowers, shrubs, and trees, each with their own scoring quirks. Some give bonus points when placed next to certain others, some hate being near anything at all. Took me a few tries to realize that the tiny cactus was secretly overpowered if you clustered it right.
Controls are dead simple: left-click to plant, space to rotate. No tutorials, no hand-holding—just you and a garden that somehow turns into a puzzle without you noticing. The music’s this weirdly calming loop that makes it way too easy to lose an hour tweaking your layout for a few extra points. It’s the kind of game you boot up thinking "just one round" and suddenly your garden looks like a botanical ransom note.
Also, whoever decided ferns should give negative points when paired with roses was a genius and a monster.
