Game Overview
Gauntlet & Rampart is this weird but fun mashup of dungeon crawling and castle defense. You start off hacking through waves of skeletons and grabbing loot in classic Gauntlet style, then suddenly you're placing walls and cannons in Rampart mode, trying to hold off invaders.
The switch between the two feels jarring at first, but after a few rounds, it clicks. You get this rhythm of clearing dungeons for resources, then scrambling to fortify before the next attack. The pixel art holds up well, though some of the enemy sprites can blend into the background.
It's not perfect—the controls are a little stiff for fast-paced combat, and the building phase could use more depth. But there's something satisfying about seeing your patchwork castle actually hold against a siege. Gauntlet & Rampart makes you work for those small victories.
