Gekirindan came out in 1995 for arcades, developed and published by Taito. It was part of that mid-90s wave of shooters where developers were really pushing hardware to create dense, frantic screen-filling action, and it holds its own among the more famous titles of the era.
You pilot one of three time-traveling fighters, each with a unique shot pattern and screen-clearing bomb. The goal is to survive across five distinct time periods, destroying everything in your path. The core mechanics involve collecting power-up icons to strengthen your main weapon and a charge shot you build up by holding the fire button. The pacing is relentless; enemy formations are aggressive, and the screen is often crowded with intricate bullet patterns. It feels like a constant test of your reflexes and route memorization, demanding your full attention from start to finish.
