Guilty Gear X - Advance Edition (E) is one of those fighting games that feels surprisingly good on the GBA. The sprites are chunky but detailed, and the animations still have that signature Guilty Gear flair. You pick a character, mash through some basic combos at first, then slowly realize how deep the mechanics go.
What stands out is how fast it moves. Matches are over quick if you don't block properly, and some characters feel downright unfair until you learn their patterns. I remember getting wrecked by Sol's dragon install over and over before figuring out the timing to punish it.
The roster is small but varied, and pulling off a Roman Cancel still feels satisfying even on the tiny screen. It's not perfect—some inputs are finicky on the GBA's buttons—but it captures the chaos of the series better than you'd expect.
